A Makerspace on the Move

The Mobile Innovation Lab is a makerspace-on-wheels designed to give students across Guilford County hands-on access to the tools and technologies shaping the future of work. Housed in a fully upfitted bus, the lab is equipped with cutting-edge STEAM resources—including laser cutters, 3D printers, CNC routers, robotics kits, and more—so students can experiment, create, and problem-solve in real time.

By meeting students where they are, the Mobile Innovation Lab removes barriers to access and provides students with opportunities to experience engaging, project-based learning. Activities spark creativity, build technical skills, and inspire interest in high-demand STEAM careers.

A partnership between The Forge and shift_ed, the Mobile Innovation Lab helps prepare the next generation of innovators, engineers, and makers by connecting classroom learning to the real-world technologies driving today’s economy.
