Mya Walker

MANAGER OF HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS

Mya Walker grew up in Thomasville and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where she earned dual degrees in communications and sociology.

After graduating, she joined the College Advising Corps, an organization that places recent college graduates in under-resourced high schools to serve as near-peer advisers. Mya was placed at T. Wingate Andrews High School in High Point. For two years, she helped Andrews students explore their post-secondary options and  connect them with the resources to make their goals a reality – including partnering with shift_ed on numerous occasions.

Her passion, she says, is increasing access to higher education and helping students reach their goals. “I am proud to be a part of an organization that transforms lives while investing in student potential,” she says. In her role as manager of high school programs, she leads the College Planning Series, educates families about our scholarship and provides post-secondary consultation sessions.

Mya lives in her hometown of Thomasville and has two dogs, Kingston and Sparkle. She is an avid traveler and loves participating in water-based activities.
