Rafael Ibarra-Orozco

SEO SCHOLARS RECRUITMENT AND 9TH GRADE STUDENT ADVISOR

California might hold Rafael Ibarra-Orozco’s birth certificate, but he calls North Carolina home, specifically Catawba County. He stayed in the state for college earning a bachelor’s degree at UNC-Charlotte and is now working toward a master’s there too.

Orozco loves to learn and loves to teach. After college he returned to Catawba County to teach at his alma mater, St. Stephens. “I have taught World History, Civics, American History, and Economics and Personal finance,” he says. “I also coached football and basketball at St. Stephens, and relationship building is important in everything I do.”

A first-generation college student himself, Orozco was excited to learn about shift_ed and SEO Scholars. “I hope to teach the future about how to make anything happen in life regardless of social and economic backgrounds,” he says. “I love to work with students and am passionate about making a difference in their lives.”

Outside of work, Orozco spends a lot of time with friends and family traveling and exploring our state from the mountains to the coast. He’s an animal lover too, so you might meet his dog Harper if you see him on a walk. If you spot him, don’t be afraid to say “hi” and give him a lunch recommendation.  “I love to talk and get to know new people. I’m new to the Guilford and Forsyth area and hope to find great places to eat!”
