As Say Yes Guilford’s Alumni for Education podcast continues we are excited to move from meeting two former Guilford County Schools alumni that became pretty amazing athletes to an alum who helps athletes like this follow the rules of the sport.
UNC Greensboro’s competitive sports coordinator for Recreation & Wellness, Malia Williamson, found her passion for sports at an early age. Although this former basketball star thought that pursuing a sports-related education at UNCG would lead to a career as an athletic trainer, one email her freshman year would chart a course toward her becoming a successful referee. This includes becoming the first female to officiate for the National Arena League this year and making the necessary steps to become an inspiration for other women who love sports as much as she does.
