APRIL 3, 2023 – Congratulations to the students and staff at Page High School, winners of the 2023 shift_ed March Madness Championship.  Page’s percentage of students registering for the scholarships topped the STEM Early College at N.C. A&T in the final week of competition, securing a $2000 donation to the school’s counseling department and bragging rights for the year; seniors will also receive a prize.

All 27 high schools began the race for the title in early March, each encouraging their seniors to register for shift_ed scholarships and increasing their school’s chance of moving forward in the competition.  Scoring was based on a school’s percentage of seniors who have fully completed their shift_ed registration. In the final week of competition, Page High School increased their percentage of shift_ed applications by 20%.

shift_ed works closely year-round with Guilford County Schools to increase graduates’ postsecondary success – and increasing FAFSA completion is a core part of that goal. Families must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to qualify for scholarships and financial aid, critical to many students completing their education. As part of the shift_ed scholarship process, students will complete the FAFSA, making them eligible for federal grants, loans and additional scholarships.

Every GCS high school has graduates who are continuing their education with shift_ed support, awarding more than $1.1 million to 669 students in the 2021-22 school year alone.
