Weekly Schedule: Typical work hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. This position requires regular evening events, which may extend beyond standard business hours. Work schedules will be adjusted accordingly to ensure appropriate flexibility and coverage

POSITION OVERVIEW: This role works collaboratively with Local Educational Agencies (LEAs), school personnel, college access organizations, and schools to promote the completion and success of school students in college and other post-secondary pathways. Additionally, this person will support students and families by educating them and assisting them in the completion of the shift_ed scholarship application. This position requires frequent travel to local schools throughout Guilford County and the surrounding area and will be reimbursed for mileage. 

Key Responsibilities:

College & Career Program Management 

  • Collaborate with local education agencies, college access organizations, and other community based organizations to  create and facilitate meaningful in-person and virtual programming related to college and career planning
  • Maintain a consistent and effective flow of communication with school counselors, administrators, and community partners to disseminate information and connect students with shift_ed and community resources
  • Support and facilitate programming related to college and career readiness
  • Assist the Director of Post-Secondary Initiatives with event planning of county-wide events to support students with FAFSA and financial aid assistance, college exposure, shift_ed scholarship completion, and other professional development opportunities to support student success
  • Create content (i.e. presentations, informational infographics) to assist students and families in navigating their post-secondary plans
  • Track data related to student and family touchpoints through virtual and in-person programming
  • Use impact data to inform post secondary programming outreach 
  • Offer guidance on standardized testing, including coordinating SAT/ACT prep sessions
  • Oversee the execution of the annual shift_ed March Madness competition in collaboration with the data and marketing teams 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

Student & Family Support

  • Provide individualized advising sessions for students and families on topics including but not limited to FAFSA completion, planning and applying to college, match & fit, and the shift_ed scholarship model and application process
  • Act as a resource for parents and guardians to understand post-secondary opportunities and support their student’s journey
  • Collaborate with local agencies to understand students and parent needs related to postsecondary resources 
  • Create and maintain scholarship resources to support students and families post-secondary goals
  • Create internship and summer opportunity resources for students 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years of related professional experience in college access programming 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with low-income students and students of diverse backgrounds, including demonstrated cultural competency
  • Experience working with high school students and families preferred
  • Experience supporting students with FAFSA completion
  • Knowledge of the college admissions process
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and project management skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Commitment to inclusive support, opportunity and excellence with a deep understanding of the challenges facing underserved communities in education.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: shift_ed offers majority employer-paid health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, and life insurance as well as a 401K match up to 3%. 

    Job Classification: Full-time

    Pay: $45,000-$55,000 salary commensurate with experience
