Closing Learning Gaps, One Student at a Time

Since 2019, shift_ed has delivered high-dosage tutoring to accelerate early literacy outcomes for Guilford County Schools elementary students.

In the most recent year, shift_ed’s  program served 147 unique students in grades 2–5. These students were supported consistently throughout the school year by a dedicated team of 51 tutors. Our tutors are sourced through strong partnerships with local higher education institutions, including Guilford College, Greensboro College, UNC Greensboro, Bennett College, North Carolina A&T State University, High Point University, and Guilford Technical Community College.

shift_ed’s structured, relationship-driven approach is working.  100% of participating students have demonstrated measurable growth in reading fluency over the course of the year – highlighting the program’s effectiveness in building foundational literacy skills and supporting long-term academic success.
